Irvine, CA, January 24, 2023 -- Boustead Securities’ Dan McClory and Keith Moore commit a $2 million gift to the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics, which will support the construction of a new outdoor track and field complex as a part of Phase Two of the Championship Building Plan. Both Dan and Keith were four-year teammates under legendary Head Coach Bob Parks.
The second phase of the Championship Building Plan includes resurfacing football's Rynearson Stadium and removing the existing track, building a new outdoor track and field complex, and upgrading baseball's Oestrike Stadium. Further details and renderings will be made public as they become available.
"With immense gratitude, we extend our thanks to Dan McClory and Keith Moore for their continued commitment to EMU with this extraordinary $2 million gift," said EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee. "Their commitment to Phase Two of the Championship Building Plan, specifically the construction of a new outdoor track & field complex, is a testament to their deep-rooted passion for carrying forward the Championship legacy of Eastern Track & Field for future generations of student-athletes."
A three-time captain of EMU's cross country team, McClory was named an "Outstanding Young Alumnus" in 1992 and "Eastern Man of the Year" in 2010. He earned a bachelor's in English (1981) and a master's in Language and International Trade (1982). In 2010, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from EMU and gave the commencement address. McClory serves on the Boards of the USA Track & Field Foundation, the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, and the Alder Foundation, where he listed the first-ever foreign-funded, venture philanthropy-backed IPO on Bovespa's Social Stock Exchange in Brazil. McClory was an EMU Foundation Trustee, is an original Champions Advisory Board member, a GameAbove Advisory Board member, and a part of EMU's recently completed Give Rise Campaign.
A member of EMU's cross country and track & field teams, Moore earned a bachelor's in Accounting (1982) and a master's in Finance (1984). Moore was an E-Club Member (1998-2000), EMU Foundation Board of Trustees member (1992-95, 1995-98), and was the EMU Alumni Association "Outstanding Young Alumnus" in 1991. He also served as a member of the Student Government and the President's Council.
McClory and Moore founded Boustead & Company Limited, a diversified financial services firm headquartered in Irvine, Calif. Boustead, through its affiliates located in Austin, Beijing, Boca Raton, London, Mauritius, Monaco, New York, Panama, San Francisco, Singapore, and Zug, offer capital markets services including private placements, initial public and secondary offerings, mergers & acquisitions, project finance, financial advisory and restructuring, sales and trading, and business valuation services to emerging growth and middle-market companies through-out the world.
"Dan and I, since we first met in 1978, were heavily influenced by our years at EMU and on the cross country and track teams under Coach Parks," said Moore. "Many of the experiences and lessons we learned at EMU, we still apply today at Boustead, and we jumped at the opportunity to get behind the track & field complex and continue our support of EMU."
"What a privilege it has been to be teammates and now business partners with Keith, and together, a part of the legacy of greatness that the EMU track and cross country programs have created and maintained over 100-plus years," said McClory. "This includes an unbroken string of EMU athletes participating in every Summer Olympics since 1960, along with countless All-Americans and MAC Champions."
Phase one of the Championship Building Plan was initially approved in December 2017 with the approval for construction of the Student-Athlete Performance Center, which officially opened Aug. 27, 2019. Heavily supported by fundraising efforts, it was part of the athletic department's plan to build a safe and highly effective atmosphere for its student-athletes.
